Tony La Russa to Retire
After a spectacular World Series win, St. Louis Cardinals manager, Tony La Russa, has announced his retirement. He made the decision prior to the Cardinals making the play-off, and he ends his career as the third on the all-time wins list. During his illustrious career, he has won three championships, present win included.
It is unusual for a for a manager to step down after winning the World Series, but La Russa is adamant that he did not want to stay on just to move up one spot on the all-time win list. (He is only 35 games behind number two on the list). He has been a part of the Cardinals for so long that fans are sure to miss him. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw some Cardinals MLB tire covers decorated in his honor.
Red Sox Trump Yankees
As a Red Sox fan, there is nothing in this world I love more than beating the Yankees- especially when it means taking first place in the American League Eastern Division. That’s precisely what the Red Sox did on August 7th in an epic 10th inning win. The Red Sox were down, but managed to tie things up in the 9th.
At the start of the 10th inning, David Ortiz rallied with a one-out double. Then Carl Crawford was intentionally walked, followed by Josh Reddick ripping a hit into left field to allow Darnell McDonald the winning run. In case you haven’t been keeping count, that win improved Boston to 70-43, one game better than the Yankees. It also means that Red Sox have had 10 wins in 12 match ups with the evil empire. I do believe I’ll be driving around town with my Red Sox MLB tire covers, just to rub it in the face of my misguided Yankees fan friends.
Baseball and the Creation of the Yankees
Major League Baseball (more commonly referred to as MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball that one can achieve in the United States and Canada. One of the most famous MLB teams of all time is the New York Yankees, but did you know that they started out in another city and under a different name?
Originally, the New York Yankees were founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 and were called the Baltimore Orioles. In 1903 the team moved to New York City and was known as the New York Highlanders before officially being renamed the Yankees in 1913. In 2009, the Yankees received a brand-new stadium, which they accordingly dubbed Yankee Stadium to continue with the tr4aduion of their old Yankee Stadium.

Let’s Go O’s!
My parents have lived in three cities with incredible baseball programs. My mom grew up in Philadelphia with the Phillies and still keeps up on the latest player stats with my grandfather. My parents both went to colleges in Boston, which of course, is Red Sox country. Now mom and dad live in Maryland and enjoy watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals.
They love attending baseball games at home and when visiting family in Philadelphia and New England. They had an Orioles tire cover for a long time, but felt that it didn’t properly identify them when they were traveling to different stadiums. As a Christmas present, my brother and I chipped in and bought them MLB tire covers for all their favorite teams. Now they can change out what’s covering their spare depending on what teams are playing that week, or what city they’re traveling too.
Out Until Next Year
With the San Francisco Giants taking this season’s championship many in the Bay Area are excited about what next years holds, and rightfully so. With their stellar play all season and the incredible performance in the Series, next year looks mighty promising for the Giants. People all over are celebrating the win as San Francisco’s MLB team has a rich history full of all the things that make a great ball club.
This news will make Christmas shopping easier than ever with the World Series making headlines all the way across the country. MLB grill covers will make excellent gifts for everyone on my list regardless of their team. The Giants may have walked away the victors but the Rangers have a huge following. As do many other teams. It’s always good to see a great ball club come away with an outstanding victory that everyone can celebrate.
The San Francisco Treat!
52 years ago moving from east to west seems to be a great move for the Giants, now that they get to take the trophy to the city by the Bay for the first time since 1958. The Giants Win the World Series in 2010.
“It’s been storybook the whole year,” Brian Wilson stated. “We had to win this one because of the guys who come in our locker room all the time and never got to experience one like Willie Mays, McCovey. This one’s for them.”
In the ninth inning Wilson took control and threw a 95-mph fastball past Josh Hamilton for a strike three call. After the game interview Wilson had made the statement, “It was like any other ninth inning, except it was the final one of the year”.
What a great year for the Giants and all the wonderful fans that stuck by them all these years. Now the Big Win is here and so are all the memorabilia going out to the fans. And perhaps the most cherished one in San Francisco Giants history.
Everyone is scattering about looking for anything with the Giants logo on it to show their support for the team. Some of our friends have gotten T-shirts, pins, hats and more larger items such as mlb tire covers, grill covers and grill mats. It’s amazing at all the merchandise you can now get for your favorite team.
And perhaps the most cherished one in San Francisco Giants history.
Tire Covers For All
To keep your wheels looking nice and preventing them from rusting out is where a tire cover comes in handy. There are so many different kinds of tire covers these days. So many companies make them to fit your theme and the vehicle itself. You can dress up your ride with any tire cover to show who you are by the style you put on your spare tire.
Tire Covers are made with college logos to represent your team spirit for your favorite school. There are also funny ones to tell a story only in a way you would like to interpret it. There are the military tire covers to support our service people to let them express the service they were or are in to help fight for our country. For someone who has no idea of what theme they would want or just wants it to match the vehicle, they make the plain tire covers. There are several different colors and it is sure to blend in with any color of a vehicle. There are definately several styles to protect your spare tire cover and make it look good too.
599th Homer
Alex Rodriguez is soon to be a member of the 600 Club along with the other 6 greats of baseball. Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., Willy Mays, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth are members as we all know. A-Rod has more extra base hits this year than he did all of last season.
The fans were groaning and even a few boos came from the stadium when A-Rod missed hitting the No. 600 in his final batting order in the eighth inning. He did hit a double on his exit for pinch-runner Ramiro Pena.
Rodriguez said ”It was certainly a fun at-bat, the fans really got into it. I saw all the light bulbs go off. I actually had to take the first pitch to refocus my eyes.”
It will be interesting to watch and see what the next game brings for A-Rod. All the fans will be fired up and showing off their support with their jeep spare tire covers on their vehicles.
The Rockpile Section
“Welcome to the Rockpile!” shouted out the usher from at the top of the stairs, which extends a vertical mile above sea level. “You found us. These are the best seats in the place!”
Coors Field’s in Denver has the farthest seat in Major League Baseball measuring 600 feet from home plate. The upside of this is the appreciation for the least-expensive tickets in the majors. From the Braves to the Phillies these tickets range from $1 to $20 on game day only for the most part.
More than 43,000 people with nearly 2,300 of them seated in the Rockpile bleachers well above the bullpen in dead-center field was watching Jeff Francis making his first start in a year and a half against the NL’s biggest teams of the spring, the Washington Nationals
.
The views are remarkable from the farthest seat in baseball. Colorado has two of the many 14,000-foot mountains, Mount Evans and, Longs Peak that dominate the western skyline when the sunset turns it purple andorange. In Denver’s Downtown, the unique cluster of skyscrapers that tower well above home plate seems like the entire ballpark looks back at you. What awesome sights to see.
Sometimes you will see the ball already on the outfield grass by the time you hear the crack of the bat reach your ears. And other times you can hear the ball hit the mitt when it is caught by a player. On the downside of this is there is no hope of ever catching a home run ball in the Rockpile section. Not one hitter has ever even come close to it. The air way up there carries a different vibe making it a unique way of watching the game.
The fans feel like they are family up there and that it’s a place to come when you just want to enjoy baseball. You don’t have to impress anybody, your kids can holler and no one’s going to look twice at ‘em. The value of this section to the fans mean as much to them as the value means to the others down in the bleachers.
These fans are here for the sunshine and the beer and just to hang out, making new friends. Some of the fans are so loyal in the top row lingering well after the game is over, they had to be asked to leave. So off they go in their favorite rides with their favorite sports team displayed on the spare tire covers.
And that’s the commitment you can expect to find at any big league park’s version of the stratosphere. These sections are populated by fans who refuse to believe that cheaper always means worse.
